Canterbury Racing's thrilling three-day Spring carnival during New Zealand Cup and Show Week is renowned for its high stakes and vibrant atmosphere of fashion, partying and glamour.
With some of the country's richest races, Riccarton Park is a must on the spring racing calendar.
The action kicks off as they race for glory in the NZ 2000 Guineas Day which sees Australasia's best three-year-olds competing in the main race of the day, the New Zealand 2000 Guineas. This premium event, known as Group 1 racing, is at the heart of thoroughbred racing and is what drives and motivates trainers, owners, breeders and racegoers alike.
Group 1 racing is the very highest level of thoroughbred racing, attracting the best horses and highest prize money. Guineas races around the world carry enormous kudos, and the NZ 2000 Guineas Day is no exception.
Off field, the day starts with a Charity Luncheon for the Canterbury Neo Natal Trust, followed by an exciting parade of leading Canterbury fashion, live music and great food and beverages. Don’t miss out!
