Teeming with stunning fashion, premium champagne and car park parties, Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup and NZ Bloodstock 1000 Guineas Day at Riccarton Park is always celebrated in spectacular style.

Come and join a who's who of Canterbury and beyond at this much anticipated social extravaganza which draws this racecourse’s biggest crowds of the year. One of the most popular races in the country, the 3,200 metre Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup, is guaranteed to be another outstanding test over the metric two mile distance, while the fillies clash for Group1 glory.

Elegant entrants will vie for fashion honours at the lucrative Riccarton Park Fashion in the Field competition.

Adding to the magic of the day will be two large infield screens, music, excellent food and refreshments and great on-course competitions, including one for best Car Park Party.

Riccarton Cup Day – R18

To make Christchurch Casino New Zealand Cup Day - Riccarton’s biggest race day -a safer day for everyone attending, this year’s event on 12 November will be restricted to those 18-years-old and over. Riccarton Park would like to encourage responsible behaviour at its events – and making the day R18 will help to manage issues of underage drinking. This will particularly protect the unique “car park party” aspect of Riccarton Park and the ability to self cater food and beverages in your reserved area. Competitions within the Car Parks rewarding those adhering to good host responsibilities, with plenty of food to augment their offer, will again be a feature.

For those attending Members and Corporate areas only, exceptions can apply, however minors must be registered before Friday 28 October. Contact Riccarton Park on 03 336-0000 for details on how to register a minor. The Carriage Paddock area, west of the Grand National Lawn, will however be strictly R18.

Other race days at both Riccarton Park and Addington Raceway during Cup Week are all age events. Both Cup Day races will however be using wristbands and these must be worn at all times. If you become intoxicated, your wristband will be removed and you will be required to leave the event. NZ Cup and Show Week is all about having a great time - having food and a few drinks with friends and family is definitely a part of that. But organisers want to make sure it’s a safe atmosphere where people can relax and enjoy the party.
