Red Bus Special Service: Thursday 10 and Friday 11 November The Red Bus Special Service will run from Central Station (Platform F, Tuam Street facing Colombo Street) to the River Turnstiles entrance to the Show every 30 minutes between 9:30am and 4:30pm (last service departs Showgrounds at 4:30pm). Join in the fun and excitement of New Zealand’s largest A&P Show. For three days a year country comes to town to celebrate all things agricultural, combined with top class entertainment plus activities and attractions that will delight the whole family.
With more than 3,000 animals and 7,000 competitive entries we’re celebrating the best in show with exhibitors battling it out for the top Showing titles. The culmination of three days of judging is the announcement of the Supreme Champion Animal of Show held in the StableMate™ Arena on Friday afternoon.
This year’s Canterbury A&P Show promises a great line up of entertainment from the thrills and excitement of the Lumberjack Show ‘Bushwacker Bonanza’, Clydesdale 100th Anniversary Displays, cooking demonstrations with top chefs including MasterChef’s Jax Hamilton, the comedic talents of Heath Franklin and his alter ego Chopper in the Tui BaaBaa Bar, plenty of live music, and all the Show favourites including the competitive action in the woodchopping and shearing arenas, the Shetland Grand National and the Ballantynes Grand Parade.
Its kiddie heaven in the City Farmyard, an interactive petting area with a difference, toes will be tapping on the Tip Top Family Lawn with the Tip Top Popsicle Band keeping the kids entertained, and there will be screams of delight coming from Showgoers in the carnival area. Plus don’t forget a visit to the Sheep Maternity Ward to witness lambs being born.
The Food & Wine NZ Pavilion will once again be bursting with gourmet produce and tasty treats. A new addition this year is the Home & Garden Pavilion for all the latest ideas and displays for entertaining, decorating, landscaping and building. If you are a keen shopper, visit the Show’s retail hub in the Lifestyle & Leisure Pavilion with products from travel to health, clothing and jewellery.
