About

Back on track

Your favourite spring Festival is back on track – just in time to give you that good time you truly deserve!

Celebrate into the evening at the new Events Village in North Hagley Park where you can let down your hair, put aside those post-earthquake worries and party the night away in the giant inflatable Dome.

This year it’s all about getting back to the basics: celebrating the thrill of a win, a night out with friends, a chance to dress in our best, to experience our region’s excellent food and wine and to come together as a wider community to have some fun!

New Zealand Cup and Show Week is all about you Canterbury. It’s your Anniversary week to come together and celebrate in any way you like!

History

In 2005 the Christchurch City Council created the New Zealand Cup and Show Week umbrella brand to coordinate the growing number of national interest races and local icon events happening in Christchurch over this period.

The amalgamation of these events into New Zealand Cup and Show Week Festial created the opportunity to promote the festival as a national icon that would bring significant economic benefits to Christchurch and reinforce local pride in the community.

Over subsequent years the festival has grown significantly and is now established as the highlight of the New Zealand racing calendar and a social occasion that attracts more than 150,000 people, including 50,000 visitors to the city. This year New Zealand Cup and Show Week welcomes several new strategic partners to the festival who will add to week and help bring a world class event experience to those attending the festival events.

Strategic Partners:
